Megadeth - Trust

This is a live performance by the American heavy metal band Megadeth playing the song “Trust” live. The performance is from the band’s 2005 concert in Argentina which is one of their best concerts ever. It’s available on DVD and I highly recommend picking it up, because it’s just an awesome performance.
The song was originally released on the band’s 1997 album “Cryptic Writings”. It was released in both a Spanish language and English language versions. In this live performance Dave Mustaine sings a bit of both versions. It was hugely successful, got a lot of airplay on MTV, and to this date it is the band’s most successful single. The song was also nominated for a Grammy award.
It’s a great song and a great performance. The Argentinean crowd is just amazing, one of the best crowds ever. This really makes this an amazing performance.

Enjoy ; )

Metallica - Am I Evil?

This is a live performance by American heavy metal and thrash band Metallica playing the song "Am I Evil?". The performance is from 1998 in New York.
The song was originally recorded by the British heavy metal band Diamondhead. It was written by Sean Harris (singer) and Brian Tatler (guitarist). It was originally released on Diamondhead's debut album "Lightning to the Nations" in 1980.
Metallica who were big fans of Diamondhead would play this and many other Diamondhead songs at the beginning of them playing together. The most widely available version by Metallica is on their 1998 "Garage Inc." double album which consists solely of covers. Diamondhead has said in interviews that they are flattered by the cover done by Metallica and that the royalties from the song have been beneficial for the band's continued recording and touring career.
It's a great and heavy song, and a great performance by Metallica.

Ozzy Osbourne - Mama, I'm Coming Home

This is the music video to the song "Mama, I'm Coming Home" by heavy metal and hard rock artist Ozzy Osbourne.
The song was released as a single in 1992 and it is off Ozzy's "No More Tears" album released in 1991. The song was written by Ozzy Osbourne, his guitarist Zakk Wylde, and Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. Lemmy was brought in as a song writer on this album.
It's a really good song. The perfect power ballad, not too heavy and not too "fuzzy-cute". The perfect power ballad.

Anvil - Metal on Metal

Click Here To Watch The Video
This is a live performance by the Canadian heavy metal band Anvil performing their song "Metal on Metal". The performance is from either Late Night with Conan O'Brien or The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, I'm not entirely sure, but I think it was on Conan's old show.
The band Anvil is a heavy metal band from Canada that was predicted a great future in the genre in the 80's, but things didn't turn out like that. A lot of highly successful artists quote them as an influence, but they never really made it big. A documentary was made about the band in, titled "Anvil! The Story of Anvil", and it was released in 2008. It's one of the best documentaries I've seen ever, period! It makes you really feel and understand the feelings the people in it have. It's a great documentary and I highly recommend it.
The song was first released on the band's second studio album, also titled "Metal on Metal", in 1982. (Album artwork embeded below, I love that art work, so cheesy, yet very fun).
It's a descent performance from the band and you can tell that they are just having the time of their life which they really truly deserve. Especially the band's frontman Steven "Lips" Kudlow, what showmanship!

Mountain - Southbound Train

This is a live performance by the classic hard rock 70's group Mountain playing the song "Southbound Train" live.
The performance is from the infamous 1969 Woodstock Festival. A 3 day festival that boasted many famous artists, in many different genres.
Mountain is a band that descents from Long Island, New York. With singer/guitarist Leslie West, bassist Felix Pappalardi, and drummer N.D. Smart the band was formed in 1969.
It's a great performance, by a great band, from a groovy festival.

Megadeth - Almost Honest

This is the music video to the Megadeth single "Almost Honest" of their "Cryptic Writings" album. The album was released in 1997 and it was a continuation of the band's transition from a heavy metal sound into a more melodic hard rock sound. The lyrics to the song were written by Dave Mustaine the band's front man and the music was written by Mustaine and lead guitarist Marty Friedman.
Friedman has also stated in interviews that this was in fact his favourite song to perform live. He really enjoyed hearing it on the radio and got to use his favourite effect pedal for the solo.
The music video is nothing special. Basically just the band performing and then cutting back and forth between that and some snowboarding sequences. Also some of the video is shot with a camera in front of a TV playing the footage so it switches from good to bad video quality in the video which is an interesting effect.
It's a very good hard rock song and it even has some pop elements. A great song.

Black Sabbath - Iron Man

This is a live performance by British heavy metal band Black Sabbath playing perhaps their most famous song, or one of them at least, "Iron Man". The performance is from Paris 1970.
The song is of their "Paranoid" album which was also released in 1970. The song has since its release been featured in various TV-shows, been sampled by numerous hip-hop acts and covered by a large number of artists.
The song's title is courtesy of Ozzy Osbourne, but the lyrics were written by Geezer Butler around Ozzy's title. Originally it was named "Iron Bloke", but this was just a working title alas it was changed before the song's release.
The song is about a man who travels back in time and sees the apocalypse. When he returns to the present he is turned in two an iron man and proceeds to communicate with people around him. His attempts are ignored and mocked and so he gets angry and causes the very destruction he saw in the future.
As mentioned earlier the song has been covered by a large number of artists. Anything from Metallica to Sir Mix-A-Lot. It was also recently confirmed that William Shatner with the aid of Ozzy's former guitarist Zakk Wylde. Below is a short clip showing them working on it in the studio.

I think this is very funny and really shows the cult status the song has reached.
It's a very good performance of a truly iconic song. The audio isn't the best in the world, but still all right and a pretty good descent video quality for 1970.

Motörhead - Stay Clean

This is a live performance by rock band Motörhead playing a version of their classic song "Stay Clean".
I really love this song and the performance the band puts on. Lemmy plays a banging job on the bass, and I love the bass solo towards the end, it's so fast and bad-ass, gotta love that.
Of course Mikkey Dee delivers a banging rhythm throughout the song and Phil Campbell ends the song nicely with a very good solo.
A great performance of a great song by a great band.

Ozzy Osbourne - Perry Mason

This is the music video to the Ozzy Osbourne song "Perry Mason". The song is the opening track to the 1995 album Ozzmosis.
The song is inspired by the character from the classic TV-series that also carried the character's name.
The song is a straight forward hard rock/metal thing. I think it is inspired slightly by the TV-shows theme, but still far enough from so that at the most it's a take-off on it which it probably even isn't.
I think it's a very good ominous song that when it comes down to it is about a lawyer performing good deeds and winning cases.
A good song.

AC/DC - Highway to Hell

This is a live performance from 2010 by Australian hard rock band AC/DC playing their classic song "Highway to Hell".
The song was originally released as a single in 1979 and is the opening track for the album of the same name. The main guitar riff was conceived by Angus Young and the song was written by Angus Young, Bon Scott and Malcolm Young.
The origin of the lyrics were an interview where Angus kiddingly stated that being constantly on tour is like "a fucking highway to hell".
It is undeniably one of the most iconic and best hard rock songs in history, and I think this live performance is impressive. The guys might be getting older, but they sure as hell still rock the stage and give one hell of an energetic performance. A great song, and a great performance.

Yngwie Malmsteen - Bedroom Eyes

This is a performance by Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen and his band, playing live at the Budokan arena in Tokyo, Japan.
The song "Bedroom Eyes" is a bit of a departure for Yngwie who usually moves in the metal genre, and even sometimes touches something that could be considered classical music. He isn't usually considered a rock/hard rock guitarist, but on this tune he strays a bit from his traditional style.
He uses a simple guitar riff, and plays a lot of the song using a wah-wah pedal. He even goes into a section of the song where he starts playing a bit from Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile".
It is a really good energized performance, and a good rock song.

Spın̈al Tap - Christmas with the Devil

Merry Christmas!!
So it's Christmas eve, and I thought I'd share one of my favourite Christmas songs with you. It is: "Christmas with the Devil" by Spıal Tap!!
Ok, but in all seriousness, I do think this is a very good comedy Christmas song. It makes fun of Christmas and the metal, hard rock and even blues music's obsession with the devil, and combines it with Christmas. Brilliant.
The video is from the Arsenio Hall show, and the volume is very low on it, so you probably need to crank your speakers to 11 if you wanna hear any thing.
Any ways, merry Christmas!! Happy Holidays etc.

Enjoy ; )

Dick Dale - Nitro

This is the music video for a song by surf rock guitarist Dick Dale. Dick is probably one of the most, if not the most famous surf rock guitarist. He kinda invented the genre of surf music. He said he wanted to imitate the sound a wave makes as it passes by a surfer on his guitar.
He revolutionized the use of various types of equipment, and was the first man ever tow own and use a 100 watt amplifier for his signature Fender Stratocaster.
His playing style is very unique, because he basically plays the guitar upside down. It's strung for a right handed player, but it's a left handed guitar that Dale uses as a lefty. Ergo he plays the guitar with the strings strung the opposite way as almost all other guitarist.
He also was a huge influence on later genres such as heavy metal and speed metal. He was one of the first guitarists to use eastern scales in his playing, and many believe him to be the first shredder in history, as his playing style can be described as fast, vicious, heavy and loud.
His most famous song is probably the Misirlou which is Dale's take on an old traditional Greek folk song. It's super fast, and perhaps one of the most recognizable riffs in history. It was also popularized by Quentin Tarantino's film "Pulp Fiction" as the main theme of the film.
"Nitro" is just a classic example of a classic Dick Dale song, fast and shreddy, but still with a slow moving eastern passage in the middle. It is the essence of Dale.
