This is the music video to the song Superior by Danish artist Tim Christensen. From 1988 to 1998 he was the frontman for the successful group Dizzy Mizz Lizzy. They reunited in 2010, but only for a string of reunion concerts.
"Superior" is from Tim Christensen's 2008 album also titled "Superior". It was the first single from the album released in 2008 as a single.
It's a great little pop number with a bit of rock influence on it as well. A great song.

Robin Gibb - Islands in the Stream

This is a live performance by former Bee Gees member and singer-songwriter Robin Gibb. He is playing "Islands in the Stream" live with a big orchestra featuring both various percussive instruments, electric instruments, choir girls, and a string section. The performance is from the DVD "In Concert with..." available through Eagle Rock.
The song was originally recorded by country artists Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. It was written be the Bee Gees, but it was originally written for Marvin Gaye. Bee Gees then changed the style of it so Dolly and Rogers could record it.
It's a good pop song, from back when they knew how to make good pop songs with good melodies.

The Beach Boys - Kokomo

This is the music video to the song "Kokomo" by rock, pop, and surf band The Beach Boys.
The song was released with and for the motion picture soundtrack to the film "Cocktail" starring Tom Cruise. The song did very well in both the American, Japanese, and Australian charts. It was also nominated for a Grammy, but didn't win. The song was written by: Mike Love, Scott McKenzie, Terry Melcher, and John Phillips. Mike Love of course the only member of the group who recorded the track. Though the steel drums were played by Terry Melcher. Plus a lot of other additional studio musicians.
It's a good descent pop song.

Megadeth - Almost Honest

This is the music video to the Megadeth single "Almost Honest" of their "Cryptic Writings" album. The album was released in 1997 and it was a continuation of the band's transition from a heavy metal sound into a more melodic hard rock sound. The lyrics to the song were written by Dave Mustaine the band's front man and the music was written by Mustaine and lead guitarist Marty Friedman.
Friedman has also stated in interviews that this was in fact his favourite song to perform live. He really enjoyed hearing it on the radio and got to use his favourite effect pedal for the solo.
The music video is nothing special. Basically just the band performing and then cutting back and forth between that and some snowboarding sequences. Also some of the video is shot with a camera in front of a TV playing the footage so it switches from good to bad video quality in the video which is an interesting effect.
It's a very good hard rock song and it even has some pop elements. A great song.

Bee Gees - How Deep Is Your Love

This is a live performance by the remaining members Barry and Robin Gibb of the group Bee Gees performing the classic song "How Deep Is Your Love".
It's a pop song obviously, but it's from the era of good pop music, so it's okay. The song was originally recorded and released in 1977 on the soundtrack to the film "Saturday Night Fever". Also it was released as a single on vinyl. It did very well on charts in both Europe and USA. And it is #20 on Billboard's All Time Top 100
It's been covered by a large number of artists. My favourite cover, not better than the original, is the one done live by guitarist John Frusciante. Embeded below:

He sort of knows he can't really sing it. So he just does his best and somehow it doesn't seem cheesy nor bad, but just respectful to the original. Also love the simplicity of just an electric guitar through a clean channel and singing, this set up really fits the song. So a good cover and a great original.

Oingo Boingo - Hey!

This is a live performance from rock band and avant garde group Oingo Boingo performing the song "Hey!" from their 1994 album "Boingo". The performance is also from '94 on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Boingo is the last studio-album to be released from the group as Danny Elfman, the lead singer, decided to focus his career on scoring film. He also quit music due to beginning hearing impairment. The sound on this album was different as the horn section and the keyboards were much less featured than on releases prior to this one. The tracks on this CD are also very long and this song has also been shortened for the Leno performance. The outro that is played at the end is repeated several times on the studio recording both in the beginning of the track and the end of the track, it's the "please mother, don't be angry with me"-part.
At this point the band has also shortened their name. Now it was just Boingo. It was sort of a thing they did. They started out as The Mystic Knights of The Oingo Boingo, shortened it to Oingo Boingo and at this point it was down to Boingo.
It's a very good live performance, and the song has a pop-feel to it while still being strange and bizarre enough to be Oingo Boingo.

Blue Rodeo - Diamond Mine

This is the music video to the song "Diamond Mine" by Canadian band Blue Rodeo. To be honest, I didn't really know this band until recently when I heard this song. So I still don't know a whole lot or have heard a lot of their stuff. I really like this song however!
The band has been around since 1985 and still exists today. The three consistent members are Jim Cuddy, Greg Keelor and Bazil Donovan. Jim and Greg both sing and play guitar in the group. The other members have been switched throughout the career of the band.
Wikipedia quotes the band as a pop and country rock band. I can definitely hear that, but on this song I personally hear some different things that they sound similar to. I hear a bit of "The Doors" as they have that organ going on in the background, I also hear something that sounds similar to Oasis (though Oasis got their breakthrough later than Blue Rodeo) and the guitar parts sound a lot like the ones you'd find in a Roy Orbison song. But hey that's just my take on it.
The single was released in 1989 and it's from the album of the same name. It reached no. 7 in Canadian charts, it was the first single from the album and the most successful single of that album.
I really think this is a very good pop song influenced by many different rock sub-genres adding to a very good song.

Wyclef Jean with Eric Clapton - My Song

This is a live performance by blues legend Eric Clapton and musician, songwriter and producer Wyclef Jean playing their version of his 2002 single "Two Wrongs".
They changed the title and changed some of the lyrics as well. Originally the song was a duet between Claudette Ortiz and Jean singing a two sided story about love. (Click here for original version).
This version is from Jeans's concert at the Carnegie Hall. The performance features many different artists playing material and playing with Jean. The concert is out on DVD. Click here for more details. I previously posted a clip of Clapton playing "Wonderful Tonight" (click here for that post)
I think it's a very nice performance of a very good pop song adding Clapton's playing on top. A really nice performance.

Eric Clapton - Blue Eyes Blue

This is the music video to the song "Blue Eyes Blue" by Eric Clapton. It is a very good looking video, the sets and the camera work is really good, a well made music video with a simple concept.
The song is an acoustic pop song in that classic Clapton style. A set of chords, Clapton's vocals, a choir and an acoustic solo by Clapton.
I think it was made, or was featured in some Julia Roberts film, there's footage in the video that appears to be from a film, but I'm not sure of that.
It's a good little pop song by Clapton with that classic Clapton pop sound.

Electric Light Orchestra - Mr. Blue Sky

This is a performance from 70's rock band "Electric Light Orchestra". It's one of their most famous songs, and it's a mix of pop and 70's rock with a lot of experimentation going on. It features a nice and up-beat melody that gives the tune a happy feeling. It also features a nice little happy guitar solo from Jeff Lynne, and an experimental part of vocoder singing. It's a nice up-beat song that's been featured in many different kinds of medium.
