Rory Gallagher - Garbage Man
This is a live performance by Irish guitarist, singer songwriter and blues man Rory Gallagher. In this performance he plays the song "Garbage Man" which was originally recorded by Muddy Waters. The song was written by Willie Hammond. The performance is from 1977 and from the Rockpalast festival in Germany.
It's a great performance, but sadly it cuts off in the video and cuts to some other German programme. It's great till that happens though, and we get most of the performance. Lou Martin does a really good piano solo and Rory then goes off on slide in standard which he is amazing at. It's a great performance.
To my knowledge the only official of this release by Gallagher is on the album "Ultra Rare Rory" which I own. It's a bootleg album, so the quality isn't the best, the performances however are top notch. Cover in picture below.
It's a great performance, and Rory truly proves that he was indeed a blues man in this performance clip.
Enjoy ; )

AC/DC – Whole Lotta Rosie
This is a live performance by Australian hard rock/ rock ‘n’ roll band AC/DC performing their classic song “Whole Lotta Rosie”. The performance is from 1977.
The song originally appeared on the band’s fourth Australian release “Let There Be Rock” released in Australia in 1977.
The song was written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott. The lyrics are about Bon Scott’s on experience with a heavy set woman. This woman has never been identified though.
The song has become very popular and the band often plays it live. It has also appeared on every official live album released by the band. Also in versions sung by Brain Johnson. When they play the song live today it is usually accompanied by a huge blowup version of Rosie as a stage effect.
The song is very popular and has been played live by a lot of bands, bands like: Anthrax, Airborne and Guns N’ Roses.
It’s a great song and a really good performance by the guys.
Enjoy ;-)

Rainbow - Long Live Rock 'n' Roll
This is a live performance by the classic rock band Rainbow playing their classic song "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" from their 1978 album of the same name.
The band Rainbow was formed by guitarist Rithchie Blackmore in 1975 shortly after he left Deep Purple. This performance is from 1977 and it features the line-up from the album that also was released the following year. This line-up of course also very famous for featuring legendary front man and singer Ronnie James Dio who also played with Black Sabbath for a period and had his own solo career for a long time. Recently he passed away after struggling with cancer. Dio didn't just do the front man thing when he was with the group, which he was from 1975-79, he also wrote all of the lyrics for the band in this period.
It's a great song and an amazing performance from a band that seems to be on fire. Also it's a great anthem with simple lyrics that were made for the audience to shout a long which they do and are encouraged to by Dio. A great performance by a great band.

Rory Gallagher - Souped-Up Ford
This is a live performance by Irish blues and folk musician and guitarist Rory Gallagher playing the song "Souped-Up Ford" live at Hammersmith, the footage is from 1977.
The song is from Gallagher's "Against the Grain" album released in 1975. The song is written and composed by Gallagher. It is one of Gallagher's slide songs where he plays slide guitar on it. I always love it when Gallagher pulls out the slide because he's so good at it that you just have to watch and be amazed.

Bee Gees - How Deep Is Your Love
This is a live performance by the remaining members Barry and Robin Gibb of the group Bee Gees performing the classic song "How Deep Is Your Love".
It's a pop song obviously, but it's from the era of good pop music, so it's okay. The song was originally recorded and released in 1977 on the soundtrack to the film "Saturday Night Fever". Also it was released as a single on vinyl. It did very well on charts in both Europe and USA. And it is #20 on Billboard's All Time Top 100
It's been covered by a large number of artists. My favourite cover, not better than the original, is the one done live by guitarist John Frusciante. Embeded below:
He sort of knows he can't really sing it. So he just does his best and somehow it doesn't seem cheesy nor bad, but just respectful to the original. Also love the simplicity of just an electric guitar through a clean channel and singing, this set up really fits the song. So a good cover and a great original.

Velvet Revolver - Psycho Killer
This is a live performance by American hard rock band Velvet Revolver covering the Talking Heads song "Psycho Killer" live at Rock Am Ring in Germany from 2007.
The song was originally released by Talking Heads in 1977 on their album "Talking Heads: 77" The song's lyrics are about the thoughts of a serial killer. The song has a very unique and recognizable bass line. This was also the only song from the album to enter the Billboard Pop Singles chart, though only reaching no. 93 on the list.
I love the version Velvet Revolver do, it's a little harder and it adds Slash's slide playing to the song which just makes it sound awesome.

Kansas - Dust in the Wind
This is the music video to the classic Kansas single "Dust in the Wind". The song was released as a single in 1977 and peaked at no. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song was written by Kerry Livgren and it was a departure for the band as they had not done any acoustic tracks prior to this one. The main melancholic acoustic guitar part is played on two acoustic six string guitars. One is in standard tuning and the other is in what is known as Nashville tuning. The two guitars together create the same sound one would get on a 12-string guitar. On top of this Robby Steinhardt plays the violin and viola on the instrumental bridge of the song.
I really like this song and I think it is one of the best acoustic guitar songs ever, period!
So enjoy it ; )

Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
This is a live video by Eric Clapton performing his classic song "Wonderful Tonight". The performance is from the Wyclef Sean concert "Wyclef Jean's All Star Jam At Carnegie Hall" (click here for Amazon page).
The song "Wonderful Tonight" is from Clapton's 1977 album "Slowhand". It was released as a single the year after. The song is written about Pattie Boyd. She was George Harrison's wife, but Clapton crushed on her, and had an affair with her at one point.
I think this is a very good performance. The band backing up Eric is Wyclef's band, and it really sounds good. The calypso-isc rhythm section really adds to this song and fits in perfectly. It's a good performance, and a great group backing Clapton up.

Heart - Barracuda
This is a live performance from the band Barracuda. They play their classic 1977 single Barracuda live many years later at this gig. The performance is from a new concert DVD and Blu-ray recently released by the band promoted by the Eagle Rock company.
The song Barracuda is a hard rock classic, with a driving riff and an extensive use of natural harmonics both in the solo and the intro of the song, it has a unique sound. The song was written as a protest towards the record company Mushroom Records who had publicised a story about a lesbian relationship between the two leaders of the band (who are sisters, so it was a dumb, immature and respectless move towards the band). The Wilson sisters have often stated in interviews that they'd listen to music like The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. They'd admire the bands, but not like many of their friends who thought they were sexy, and wanted to be with them. Ann and Nancy wanted to be like them, and be independent recording artists in their own rights which was tough in the 70's as women.
The song was also ranked as the 34th best hard rock song ever by VH1 and their viewers who decided on an online poll.
The song was also used at (and is still used at) The Republican National Convention. Sarah Palin had the nickname Barracuda in high school (due to her sports involvement). And they purchased the rights to the song. The Wilson sisters disproved of this, and in an open letter asked for them to stop using the song. This didn't work as they had legally purchased the rights to the song and were paying royalties to the band every time they used it. Other band members have said that it was a good thing, because it, in the end, ended up putting focus on Obama's campaign, due to the media coverage of the band's disapproval, and the fact that they got royalties. The Wilson sisters however still disprove of this.
It's a great song that's been used literally everywhere, and just keeps getting better with time.

Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever
This is a recent performance of the classic hard rock 70's song "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent, of the album with the same title. The song is known for its simple three tone blues scale riff harmonized in parallel fourths. It's traditional rock 'n' roll, straight forward, one riff, attitude and a simple but rockin' guitar solo by Ted Nugent himself.
In 2009 the song was named the 32nd best hard rock song of all time by the VH1 television network.
It's a great ballsy performance, with Ted functioning at full throttle and energy level. Truly a great song, true rock 'n' roll.

Aerosmith - Back In The Saddle
This is a performance from classic hard rock band Aerosmith performing the rock 'n' roll song "Back In The Saddle". The song was written by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry aka The Toxic Twins. The song is from the band's 1976 album "Rocks" and was released as the third single from the album in 1977 and peaked at #38 on the Billboard charts.
The song was came about from a bass riff that Joe Perry came up with which gave the song the heavy bass sound. It is also one of the songs to feature Brad Whitford on lead guitar and Joe Perry on rhythm guitar, changing it up a bit.
Another characteristic of the song is the slow build up from the drum, to the bass kicking in, to it finally taking off into the song that is "Back In The Saddle". It's a great rock 'n' roll song, and a good performance.

Rory Gallagher - Too Much Alcohol
This is a live performance by blues and rock legend Rory Gallagher performing his classic slide blues composition "Too Much Alcohol". It's a song done in open E with a slide.
The performance is from and Irish TV-show called "Me & My Music" which was broadcast in 1977. It's great to see Gallagher on his own just performing and accompanying himself, it's a tough thing to do, and only true blues men master that ability. Gallagher's great, love how he really works the crowd and gets them pumped. Just a great performance.
