Tina Turner - Nutbush City Limits

This is a live performance by American rock and pop artist Tina Turner doing a smoking performance of the song "Nutbush City Limits".
The song is a semi-autobiographical song written by Tina Turner commemorating her rural background in the town of Nutbush, Tennessee. It was written by Tina Turner and initially released in 1973. It was recorded with Ike Turner whom Tina divorced shortly after the release of this song, making it the duo's last hit single. The song has since been covered by other artists and also been re-recorded by Tina on several occasions. In fact Tina has released the following re-recordings: A 1988 live version, a 1991 remix, and a 1993 re-recording for the autobiographical film "What's Love Got to Do With It?"
Other artists who have done versions of the song include: Bob Seger, Martin Barre from Jethro Tull, and in 1980 Brian Johnson sang the song as part of his audition for AC/DC.
It really is an amazing song. And this performance that Tina puts on, it's truly amazing. She's dancing, singing, and walking on a crane arm reaching out to the audience. She just loves performing and it just shines through so good. This is what Tina's all about to me, a great rock 'n' roll performer with more energy than anyone, truly a rock 'n' roll queen!

Ike & Tina Turner - "River Deep - Mountain High"

This is a live performance from the 60's and 70's rock 'n' roll duo Ike & Tina Turner. They play their classic song "River Deep - Mountain High". The performance is from 1971. The song was released as a single in 1966. It flopped in USA, but did very well in the European market peaking at #3 in The UK. It was written by Phil Spector, Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. It was produced by Phil Spector after his "wall of sound" technique which gave the single a unique and grand sound. Spector has quoted this as his best work as a producer.
It has since become one of Tina's signature songs in her solo career. It has also been covered by a large number of artists, including: Bob Seger, The Shadows, The Supremes, Neil Diamond and Céline Dion. It has also been used in countless music talent shows such as "Idol" and other programmes of that genre.
It's a great song. The performance is okay, but nothing special. I actually think that some of the versions Tina has done in her solo career have been much better. So my advice is: Track down some of those versions instead.

Aretha Franklin - Respect

This is a live performance by soul queen Aretha Franklin playing her classic song “Respect”. The performance is from 1990.
The song was originally recorded and released by Otis Redding in 1965. It was also written by Redding, but with a different perspective than Franklin would use later. Franklin switched the perspective so the song turned into a plea from a woman to a man demanding respect. This made the song popular in the feminist movement.
Franklin’s version was released in 1967 and it became her perhaps best known song. She won two Grammy Awards for the song in the R&B categories.
The song was a huge hit and it was later covered by a large number of artists such as: Ike & Tina Turner, Janis Joplin and Jennifer Hudson to name a few.
It’s a great song. I really love the true soul there is on this and the sound of the big orchestra with the horn section. A great song and a great performance.

Dust My Broom - Gary Moore

This is a clip of Gary Moore covering the famous song 'Dust My Broom'. It's song that's been covered a lot, artists who have done cover-versions include; Howlin' Wolf, ZZ Top, Ike & Tina Turner, Keith Richards, and many more.
The song was originally recorded by blues legend Robert Johnson, but made famous by legendary slide player Elmore James.
Moore isn't much of a slide player, but I really think he brings something to this cover, and does a very good job with it.
