ZZ Top - "She's Just Killing Me" & "Vincent Price Blues"
This is a live performance by Texan blues rock band ZZ top. They play the songs "She's Just Killing Me" and "Vincent Price Blues" live. The performance is from a French TV-show from 1996.
Both of the songs that they play are from the band's 12th studio album "Rhythmeen" released in 1996. "She's Just Killing Me" is an up tempo rock 'n' roll bluesy song and it also appeared on the soundtrack to the Robert Rodriguez film "From Dusk till Dawn" which primarily consisted of Texas blues artists such as Stevie Ray Vaugha, Jimmie Vaughan, and ZZ Top, of course.
"Vincent Price Blues" is much slower and a nice change of paste in the mini performance ZZ Top delivers.
Both songs were written by: Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard.
Both songs are good songs, and performed like only ZZ Top can!
Enjoy ; )

ZZ Top - Blue Jean Blues
This is a clip from a live performance by blues and rock 'n' roll group ZZ Top performing their classic slow blues song "Blue Jean Blues".
The song was released in 1975 on ZZ Top's fourth album "Fandango". The album consisted of recordings from live shows and original new studio-recorded content. The only single to be released from Fandango was "Tush".
It's a very good performance, the video quality could be better and it is a little annoying that it just cuts off before they finish playing. A version of this is also on the "Live from Texas" DVD which I can highly recommend picking up.
I love how Billy Gibbons talks to the audience. This was when he started to be known as The Reverend Willy G due to this part of his audience interaction.
It's a good performance, but track down either the album version or the live version from the DVD I recommended earlier. A great song and a great performance.
Enjoy ; )

Foghat - Slow Ride
This is yet another 70's hard rock song, and it's awesome. It's a performance by the British blues-rock band Foghat. They perform the song "Slow Ride" which was also their most successful song. It was composed by Dave Peverett, and recorded by the band. It was first released in 1975 on the band's album "Fool for the City". It was named the 45th best hard rock song ever by VH1 and its viewers.
It's a nice and simple song mainly driven by a simple riff focused around an A power-chord. The thing that makes it an awesome performance is the slide guitar played by Rod Price. He really does a good job, and without that it would have been a boring performance. It's an interesting approach to slide guitar, it isn't slow, and much more a rock 'n' roll style of slide playing, in many ways similar to that of Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top. But a great performance, of a great song.

ZZ Top - Jailhouse Rock & La Grange
This is ZZ Top performing the classic Elvis Presley song "Jailhouse Rock". It's a typical rock 'n' roll song, and is one of the most classic songs ever. It ranked #67 on Rolling Stones list of the best songs ever.
It's a classic song, and has been recorded by an infinite number of artists; Jerry Lee Lewis, Jeff Beck, Cliff Richard and Queen to name a few.
It was also used as the last performance in the classic film "Blues Brothers", featuring a number of artists adding in words over the end credits (click here for Blues Brothers clip).
Elvis was Billy Gibbons main influence in deciding to be a professional musician and entertainer, he saw him live at an early age and has stated that it was at that point he decided to make a living out of music.
The video is a double performance also featuring "La Grange". It's a great performance, and Billy's guitar work is just excellent.
Enjoy ; )

ZZ Top - Breakaway
This is a music video from ZZ Top for their song "Breakaway" from their 1994 album "Antenna". The song is a slow blues, and has some very tasty licks and guitar playing from Gibbons. The album was very popular, and the first single "Pincushion" reached no. 1 at mainstream rock charts. "Breakaway" only reached 7th place on the mainstream rock charts and wasn't as successful.
Frank Beard once said something like "blues is a guitar player's game" meaning that the guitar sound is very important in making a good blues song, and that the bass and drums are there to accompany Billy and not the other way around.
This is also heard on the tasty two guitar sound of "Breakaway", it's two guitars and drums, also performed this way live. This sound is also inspired by Billy's love of Jimmy Reed's dual guitar sound.
A great song.

Dust My Broom - Gary Moore
This is a clip of Gary Moore covering the famous song 'Dust My Broom'. It's song that's been covered a lot, artists who have done cover-versions include; Howlin' Wolf, ZZ Top, Ike & Tina Turner, Keith Richards, and many more.
The song was originally recorded by blues legend Robert Johnson, but made famous by legendary slide player Elmore James.
Moore isn't much of a slide player, but I really think he brings something to this cover, and does a very good job with it.
Enjoy ; )
