Jerry Lee Lewis - Wild One

This is a live performance by American rock 'n' roll pianist and singer Jerry Lee Lewis. He plays the song "Wild One" which became a staple in Lewis' live performances.
The song was originally recorded by Australian rock 'n' roll act Johnny O'Keefe in 1958. The song was written by O'Keefe, Johnny Greenan, and Dave Owens.
Jerry Lee Lewis recorded a version of the song in 1958, but it wasn't released until 1974 on the album "Rockin' and Free". Lewis also re-recorded a version of this song for the motion picture soundtrack to the film "Great Balls of Fire".
The song has been recorded by a large number of artists, including: Albert Lee, Iggy Pop, Billy Idol, Joan Jett, and Brian Setzer.
It's a great rock 'n' roll number and it's always nice to see Lewis hammering away on those piano keys, gotta love that!

Thelonius Monk - Blue Monk

This is a live performance by jazz legend and jazz composer Thelonius Monk playing his classic jazz standard "Blue Monk". The performance was shot in Norway in 1966. The musicians joining Monk are: Charlie Rouse on tenor saxophone, Larry Gales on bass and Ben Riley on drums.
As mentioned earlier "Blue Monk" is an instrumental jazz standard composed by Thelonius Monk. It is a B♭ blues based on the jazz tune "Pastel Blue".
Thelonius Monk is considered one of the great contributors of American music and he has written several jazz standards, "Blue Monk" included. He was known for his very distinctive and unique approach to the piano, for his clothing style and for standing up in the middle of songs and taking breaks to then return to the piano. He also does this in this performance. In fact all musicians but the drummer do this and then at the end they all join in again.
It's a great performance and you can really tell that the musicians are in sync with each other and leave space and respect to one another. This is a great laid back performance of a great jazz standard.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Tin Pan Alley (Sunnyland Slim)

The first video is a live performance by blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan playing the classic blues song "Tin Pan Alley" live at the Rockplast festival in Loreley Germany in 1984.
The song was written by Texan blues and rhythm and blues musician and record producer Bob Geddins. He owned many independent small record labels over the course of his life. And is probably most famous for having many of his songs mistakenly attributed to other artists.
Stevie Ray Vaughan's version appeared on his 1984 record "Couldn't Stand the Weather". He has been playing a version of this song since the very early stages of his career, but this was the first studio recorded version done by Vaughan and Double Trouble. In fact there's an early live version of this on Vaughan's 1992 released album of a radio broadcast from 1980 "In the Beginning".
The other version of this I've embeded beneath is a version by Delta Blues pianist and singer Sunnyland Slim. He started his career in the Mississippi Delta, but moved to Chicago later in his career. He was born in 1907 and died in 1995. He had a very powerful voice and was rumoured to break microphones with it, and toured through Europe in the 60's riding the waves of artists such as Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters on the European blues boost of the 1960's.

It's a very good song, and both live versions are very good. I really love Stevie's. It's so energetic, fast paced and laid back at the same time, just seems effortless on his part. An amazing performance, he really brings his own flair to this song, and I love it.

B.B. King - When It All Comes Down

This is a live performance from guitarist B.B. King at the prime of his career. He plays the song "When It All Comes Down" and we get two great soulful guitar solos in that style that can only be played by the King himself. It's a big set up with horn section, drums, bass and piano/organ. King's voice is also a big part of what really makes this performance, he sings the song so well, it's astonishing.
The song also features an amazing piano solo by pianist Eugene Carrier, he's not a very famous pianist, but from this performance you can tell that he had mad skills, an amazing talent.
This is just a great performance, B.B. sings fantastically, plays soulfully and amazingly, the band plays well and the pianist is out of this world. A truly great performance!

Jeff Beck & B.B. King - Key to The Highway

This is a performance by B.B. King and Jeff Beck, it's from 2003. They perform the song "Key to The Highway", a song that's been part of King's repertoire for a long time. It is considered a blues classic, originally recorded in 1940 by Charlie Segar, and since covered by a number of blues artists. It was originally a 12-bar blues, but when covered by Big Bill Broonzy, he changed it to an 8-bar blues that sounds similar to the one performed today.
I love this performance, and the playful attitude the players have. There's nothing but respect between them. King's got the feelin', but Beck's got some speed, and in the end they're both great, it's never a competition.
