Stevie Ray Vaughan - Cold Shot (Dr. John)

This is a live performance by Texan blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan playing his version of the song "Cold Shot". The performance is from the "Live From Austin, Texas" DVD which features two performances from the TV show Austin City Limits, one from 1983 and one from 1989. This clip is from the 1989 performance. It's a great performance and the band is really hitting the groove on this one.
The song "Cold Shot" was written by W. C. Clark and Michael Kindred and released by SRV on his 1984 album "Couldn't Stand the Weather".
The song was also performed at the SRV memorial concert. In that concert it was performed by piano legend Dr. John. (Embeded below)

I really love what Dr. John does with this tune. He sort of plays it his own way, in a different key, but he still sort of manages to compose a lot of Stevie's guitar parts to piano which sounds amazing to me. Also the ending of this performance is amazing.
It's a great song, and SRV sure made this tune his own, a great groove, gotta love that.

Motörhead - Killed by Death

This is a live performance by heavy metal band Motörhead playing their classic song "Killed by Death" live.
The song was released in 1984 on both 7" and 12" vinyl. It peaked at #51 on the UK Singles Chart. The single also had a music video, it's pretty cheesy, but pretty hilarious as well (click here to check out the music video). The song is credited to: Lemmy, Phil Campbell, Würzel, and Pete Gill.
It's a great song, straight forward rock 'n' roll with a lot of sexual innuendo in the lyrics, great song and performance.

The Fabulous Thunderbirds & Stevie Ray Vaughan - The Crawl

This is a live performance by Texan blues rock band The Fabulous Thunderbirds, the performance is from 1984.
The Fabulous Thunderbirds was the group that Stevie's brother Jimmie Vaughan played in from its formation in 1976 to 1989. Jimmie left the group to play in a duo with his brother, but these plans were foiled by Stevie's unfortunate death in 1990. After that the band has gone through a huge number of line-up changes.
This is a great song. There's a lot of influence from surf guitar on this definitely a lot of Dick Dale in the sound of it. Also love the musical breaks on it that includes the audience and the part where they play the guitars on their backs. Also Stevie is playing a Telecaster. I think this is the first time I've ever seen him do that. I've seen him play guitars with humbucker pick ups on rare occasions, but never a Telecaster. So it's a first. It's a great song and great solos from both Stevie and Jimmie.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Tin Pan Alley (Sunnyland Slim)

The first video is a live performance by blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan playing the classic blues song "Tin Pan Alley" live at the Rockplast festival in Loreley Germany in 1984.
The song was written by Texan blues and rhythm and blues musician and record producer Bob Geddins. He owned many independent small record labels over the course of his life. And is probably most famous for having many of his songs mistakenly attributed to other artists.
Stevie Ray Vaughan's version appeared on his 1984 record "Couldn't Stand the Weather". He has been playing a version of this song since the very early stages of his career, but this was the first studio recorded version done by Vaughan and Double Trouble. In fact there's an early live version of this on Vaughan's 1992 released album of a radio broadcast from 1980 "In the Beginning".
The other version of this I've embeded beneath is a version by Delta Blues pianist and singer Sunnyland Slim. He started his career in the Mississippi Delta, but moved to Chicago later in his career. He was born in 1907 and died in 1995. He had a very powerful voice and was rumoured to break microphones with it, and toured through Europe in the 60's riding the waves of artists such as Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters on the European blues boost of the 1960's.

It's a very good song, and both live versions are very good. I really love Stevie's. It's so energetic, fast paced and laid back at the same time, just seems effortless on his part. An amazing performance, he really brings his own flair to this song, and I love it.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Honey Bee

This is a 1984 performance from a German festival. It was back when Double Trouble was a trio consisting of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon.
It's a great performance, and Stevie really gives a lot. Plus "Honey Bee" is a great little up tempo blues song, with a smoking intro.

There's also a little interview afterwards which is also pretty interesting.
