Rory Gallagher - Banker's Blues

This is a live performance by Rory Gallagher, doing an acoustic blues classic on his own. It's a solo performance, just Rory and his guitar, it's so fantastic what only a select few performers can do when they sit on their own and do an self accompanied acoustic blues performance. It's a tradition of the 1920's and 30's, and so many people today aren't able to do it. Very few people listen to the roots of the blues, and perform them as well as Gallagher did.
The song Banker's Blues was originally recorded by Big Bill Broonzy, a legendary player of the acoustic blues era of the 1930's. He's not as famous as Robert Johnson, but still quite known within the guitar playing community. And both Gallagher and Clapton have cited him as an influence on their playing styles.
The song is about women and how they'll steal your money, if you have them in the bank, a quite simple theme. The song follows the same chord structure as "Key to the Highway", but is still different. It's sort of like Son House's "Death Letter" sounds like "Rollin' and Tumblin'", but they are different songs.
It's a great song, and a great performance. I've embeded a version of the original recording beneath, the sound quality isn't good, and you can hear the needle scratching the record, but it's still good.

AC/DC - The Jack

Now it's time for the rock-side of things. This a performance by Australian hard rock band "AC/DC". It's the song "The Jack" from their 1975 Australian release  T.N.T. The song was originally recorded with Bon Scott on vocals, but since this performance is from 2003 Brian Johnson who does a banging job on it.
The song is essentially a typical blues structure, with a change between the three chords B, A and E played in a classic blues shuffle. It's a great performance, and shows the blues influence, not only in the rhythm playing, but also in Angus's lead playing.
Also love how both Angus and Brian really work the stage, and give a performance out of the ordinary. I mean Brian runs across stage, and reaches as much of the audience as possible, and Angus is just on, and performs brilliantly for the audience.
Truly a great performance by an awesome band.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Lookin' Out The Window

This is a performance by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. It's a performance from Italy 1988 of "Lookin' Out The Window" and it's a typical blues tune. I really like the tempo and feel of this song, kinda reminds me of electric versions of "Key To The Highway", same chord structure, but still different.
I really love the piano solo from Reese Wynans who joined the band in 85 for their third studio album "Soul to Soul". He was a wonderful addition, not just studio-wise, but also in the band's live performances.
